Meetings will continue to be on the fourth Wednesday of the month at St Chad’s Hall, Campleshon Road, York YO23 1PE from 7.30 - 9.30.

Ideas of what to do with Jelly Rolls - bring your machine & a jelly roll or Bali pop.

Foundation Piecing, a Christmas Block

Wednesday December 14th - Christmas Party 
A special ‘show & tell of hand-made Christmas decorations - a prize for the best one! Also a Sissex (cutting machine) demonstration.

New year, new quilt. Modern ideas to try out

Wednesday February 22nd - Heather Audin, curator of the Quilters Guild Museum Collection will be telling us all about the variety of items in the collection- it’s not only old quilts!

Wednesday March 22nd - Brigid will show us how to choose fabric, thread and needles, and do needle turned appliqué, so we can try Baltimore ourselves. 

Wednesday April 26th - Maggie Lloyd-Jones
A talk on Quilts4Care Leavers

Wednesday May 24th - Nicola Holme from ‘Simply Stitch’
will demonstrate how to use decorative machine stitches beyond the basic computer settings. Tips on threads, tension problems and lots more!

Wednesday June 28th - Gina will show us a range of her fabulous work, including her amazing textile art as well as her quilts.

All meetings will be evening ones this year, on the 4th Wednesday of the month, 7.30 - 9.30. If there is demand, we may have some extra afternoon sessions.

Revised Programme  2020-2021

Due to continued Coronavirus restrictions, we are unable to return to St Chad's with no prospect of this for the foreseeable future. We will review the situation in May 2021. However, by the power of 'Zoom' technology, we were able to hold our AGM and first virtual meeting of the year on 23rd September! We will continue with this format, Janice sending our Zoom invitations to members by email, before each meeting. 
The meetings will be on a Wednesday evening at 7.45;

Programme 2020 - 2021

It is difficult to make definite plans for the coming year due to the current Pandemic. We have therefore set provisional dates only from September onward, assuming that St Chads will open for business. Once we have clarity about the resumption of our meetings, we will plan the programme. 
Thursdays are afternoon meetings from 1pm to 4pm.
Wednesdays are evening meetings 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

Lis will demonstrate how she makes her fabric pictures. Lis was the overall winner of the Great Northern Quilt Show 2017 with her entry Triptych - Silver Birch Wood 

February 28th
Charity Night - Fiddle Finger Quilts
Learn about these quilts for dementia patients and perhaps help sew one.

March 28th
Modern Quilting - Sarah Humphries
Sarah will show her work including the winner of Modern Quilt Section 2016 at 
Festival of Quilts.

A 'quirky' hand sewn project

September 23rd           Susan Hill - The Beninborough Quilt

Susan will talk about the quilt she made to commemorate the centenary of the Royal Canadian Airforce being based at Beninborough Hall.

October 28th                Sewing for the Exhibition

Inspire others to sew by bringing your ideas as well as your sewing stuff.

November 25th           Quilt As You Go Cheat Block  -  Kate Smith

No need to worry about making a quilt sandwich - this is an easy method for putting together a quilt block.

December 16th           Christmas party

January 27th               Disappearing Pinwheel   -  Lis Tate

Choose from 5 different options to create your stunning pinwheel block.

February 24th             Fabric Flowers  -  Bryony Downing

Bryony will show us her method for creating fabric flowers. Make as a decoration for a bag, or produce a bunch to make a table centre that doesn't  drop its petals.          

March 23rd                Fruity Bag  -  Kate Jones

Make a bag that disappears into a small piece of fruit. Pop it into your handbag so that you always have something to carry your shopping when going on a Fabric Acquisition Road Trip.

April 27th                  Preparation for the Exhibition
                              
Bring along all the things you are putting into the exhibition and we will have a Bumper Show and Tell and attach all the labels

May 25th                    Demonstration Night

Experienced members will be demonstrating techniques and passing on tips. Plus a chance to let others know about any new gadgets on the market that you really cannot live without.

June 22nd                   Gina Smith  -  Talk about her other textile work

Embroiderer, Textile Artist and Member of the Diverse Threads Group.  White Rose member, Gina, has been hiding her light under a bushel for too long and tonight she will reveal her talents for us to enjoy.

Programme 2014 to 2015

September 24th
                              Sew-a-row Quilt
                                To begin your quilt, 3 patterns will be distributed and techniques demonstrated:-  
                                          Log Cabin, Delectable Mountains and Foundation Pieced Trees.

October 22nd
                             Days for Girls
                             We will be sewing bags and liners for this international charity which helps every girl
                                         everywhere period. Bright fabrics are a must for this one.

November 26th
                             Brioni Greenberg talking about her quilting journey
                             Brioni will bring along some of her quilts and tell us about how she got into quilting.
                                          Her jellyroll and charm patterns will I'm sure inspire you and I hope to get her back  
                                            next year for a workshop. This will be an open meeting.

December 17th
                            Christmas Party
                            A faith supper, Kate's Woven Snowflakes and more.

January 28th
                            Philippa Naylor talking about her award winning quilts and books
                            Philippa will bring along slides of her work and quilts to show us. This will be an open 
                                          meeting with a raffle.

February 25th
                            Japan Crafts - Kanzashi folded flower brooches
                            Katie Chaplin from Japan Crafts will bring kits so we can all make one of these little    
                                        brooches which the Japanese use as hair ornaments.

March 25th
                            Sew-a-row Quilt
                            Two  more patterns and demonstrations.
                                       Flying Geese and Scrap Baskets.

April 22nd
                            Sewing What Not - Moira McCulloch
                            Moira will teach us the techniques for making this item which she found on her trip to
                                        The States. All will be revealed at a later date!

May 27th
                           Sew-a-row Quilt
                           Your last 2 patterns will be distributed and demonstrated
                                      Friendship Star and applique.

June 24th           
                           Seminole Patchwork - Lis Tate
                           Learn how to cut and piece this style of patchwork which originated from the Seminole  
                                    Indians in the Florida everglades. perhaps you can use it in your sew-a-row quilt?

               Nel is a successful artisit who has started to translate her work onto fabric designs for Free                  Spirit. Her new collection is called "Eden".

               She will bring fabric, cards and books to sell on the evening
